Reading issues emergency declaration, closes City Hall amid coronavirus crisis

Mayor Eddie Moran issued an emergency disaster declaration Monday afternoon and closed City Hall to the public in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Moran made the announcement at a press conference in City Hall flanked by some city first responders, City Council members and Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan.

Signing this declaration today gives our city the tools that it would need to operate in the event the virus does arrive,” Moran said. “I am signing this document today to help contain and mitigate the virus and to ensure the government is ready.”

By issuing the declaration, the city can request additional assistance from state or federal authorities. It would also allow the city to
