Pennsylvania workers impact by the novel coronavirus may be eligible for unemployment benefits.
The Department of Labor and Industry said the best option is for employers to offer employees paid time off. However, if leave isn’t available, workers may apply for benefits.
Pennsylvanians are eligible for unemployment compensation in the following scenarios:
- Your employer temporarily closes or goes out of business due to COVID-19
- Your employer reduces your hours because of COVID-19
- You have been told not to work because your employer feels you might get or spread COVID-19
- You have been told to quarantine or self-isolate or you live/work
